Selling Automotive parts efficiently on Amazon
In this article, we’ll cover tips to start selling automotive parts on Amazon and dive into the details of how to maximize your potential. Selling Automotive parts is no longer limited to garages and physical stores. The world of online automotive sales is booming, and Amazon is the destination for customers that want to access a vast selection at competitive prices and with faster shipping.
Why selling vehicle parts online?
Selling through Amazon is a great method to reach customers from all over the world. The average age of cars has been increasing significantly in recent years. Today, many consumers choose to extend the life of their vehicles and use Amazon to find the necessary spare parts.
I have created my account: what are the best practices that I should follow?
Whether you’re already established in the automotive industry, or new to e-commerce and ready to build your digital boutique, there are some considerations for selling automotive parts online.
Choose which products you want to sell
Even if you already know what type of products you want to sell, some researches might reveal opportunities worth pursuing. By selling on Amazon, it’s easy to check what are most popular products: this allows you to anticipate trends and be able to react to the changes that will characterize the Automotive sector in the coming years.
Figure out your fulfillment strategy
Dimensions and weight matter when you’re storing and shipping Automotive parts. A spare room or garage might be sufficient to cover your storage needs when you first start, but as you scale, you might want to coordinate with a solution like Fulfillment by Amazon for warehousing, customer service, and other tasks.
List your products and set competitive prices
When you’re ready to list products, consider including a variety of high-quality product photos, and to use bullet points to highlight product features and benefits. To set price that will convert, do some competitor research to see what comparable items are selling for.
Add compatibility information (if needed)
If your listings are compatible only with specific vehicles, make sure you have added the relevant information by using our internal compatibility tool. When purchasing automotive parts, customers need to know what items fit their vehicle: this can help ensure higher conversion, higher sales and reduce compatibility related returns.
To proceed with a bulk upload, you need to add compatibility information using Master Vehicle List (MVL). The MVL is a data repository of vehicles that are currently operating in the region. This list is now available to all Selling Partners of Automotive items on Amazon and using it for your catalogue will help customers find your products.
The MVL provides you with a unique KTYPE for each vehicle. Download the MVL for all covered locales below:
